How to Make a Video Slideshow Book Trailer

This is the method I use to make a video slideshow book trailer. I use the following software in this process:

  • ·     Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
  • ·     Wondershare Video Editor
  • ·     MP3 Recorder (if recording own backgound music)

This is a simple process to make a video slideshow book trailer. This method assumes that you already have selected your JPEG images and background music (if desired). Both Audacity and Wondershare allow you to record voiceover or a narrative. I find that Audacity has many features and effects that makes this task simple, but dynamic. Audacity allows you to fade in and out, generate silence, amplify, change the pitch and tempo, bass boost, noise removal, and adjust the volume of separate audio tracks among other numerous features and effects. What is really helpful is that you can test your edits and effects without changing your original tracks.Once you have edited your audio and music tracks, Audacity exports your edited tracks and saves them in common file formats, for example, MP3, WAV, etc.

If you are like me and do not have a commanding voice that produces a good voice over, you can purchase the desired talent.  There is a wide fee range for such services, but I found an economical one for which I was very satisfied with the results.  The VoiceJungle provides a filter for the type of voice for which you are searching.  The filter includes gender, style and age range.  A sample voiceover is provided for each talent you choose.  My non-broadcast voiceover was $65.00.  I used the VoiceJungle talent for two of my books, “Beginnings” and “Side-Stepping the Rules:  Broken or Not.”

There are a number of sites that provide free production music.  I chose Audionautix.  All music in this online collection is created by Jason Shaw.  Filters are provided to search for just the music you desire.  These filters include genre, tempo and mood.   You click on the “find music” button and the background music results are provided with description and listen option.

Now that I have my desired narrative and background music, I switch over to the Wondershare software to compile the JPEG (or other image formats such as PNG). Wondershare has dynamic style templates that you can use based on the number of images in your movie slideshow. For each image and style, you can specify the duration that you desire in your movie trailer. Wondershare also allows you to record a narrative for voiceover. After completing this process, you can preview what you have created and make any changes that you desire. You can then save your video slideshow movie in a variety of popular formats, including MP4.

And that’s it! You now ready to upload your slideshow video to your website, YouTube, or other sites. I hope this simple process is helpful to you in creating and editing your audio and video presentation.I have used this process to make simple video slideshow book trailers of my books. They are uploaded on the YouTube channel of my publisher, CCB Publishing at CCB Publishing YouTube Channel.

On this YouTube channel, you will find the trailers for each of my books:

July Image
“To Betsy, My Babe…Love, George W.”

When I wrote “Twelve Upon a Time: Bedside Story Collection Series,” 4 children created the images that accompanied each of the 12 books in the Series. I simply gave them a short description of what I wanted. At first, the kids kept asking clarifying questions, whch I did not answer directly. I wanted their point of view, not mine.

Case in point, one of the images required for the July story was Betsy Ross knitting the flag. This is the picture displayed here. The image was drawn, as asked, but may I focus your attention above the fireplace. It is a picture of George Washington with the following words: “To Betsy, My Babe…Love, George W.”

Children draw the darndest things…

Bedtime Story Collection Series – “July: Furly and Kurly Color the Flag”

This is the seventh book in my 12 book Bedside Story Collection Series spanning across the 12 months of the year.  This July bedside story is entitled Furly and Kurly Color the Flag.  It celebrates the birth of our country by visiting the woman who knitted our flag on our first birthday.  This year, 2015, America is 239 years old.  Happy Birthday America!  The images included in the story are displayed.julyNEW
